Ayew reflects on draw the 'felt like defeat'

Andre Ayew says that Crystal Palace's last-gasp equaliser at Selhurst Park was a real kick in the teeth.

Ayew was involved in the build-up to Javier Hernandez's opener before scoring a schorcher from distance to put West Ham into what should have been an unassailable position.

However a penalty five minutes into the second half followed by Wilfried Zaha's 97th-minute leveller denied West Ham all three points - much to the chagrin of the in-form Ghanaian forward.

"It felt like a defeat," he told the club's website. "Were disappointed. It was a tough game, and its always difficult to hold on to the end when you come out after half-time and concede a goal inside the first five minutes.

They had opportunities, but were disappointed that it ended 2-2. We didnt hold the ball as well as we did in the first half and that put our defenders under pressure the whole time. Well learn from that.

"The response to [the 3-0 home defeat against] Brighton has been not bad, because of the victory we had at Wembley - but we should have left Crystal Palace with three points and had two wins in a row."

Meanwhile Joe Hart, who had his best game for West Ham since joining the club on a season-long loan echoed Ayew's disappointed, calling his team mates unprofessional.

"I cant believe weve done that," he said. "I cant believe weve fought all the way to the end and then been so unprofessional. Its a little bit speechless in the dressing room.

"No one does things on purpose in this team but its two points dropped as simple as that. I hadnt switched off but it was a good finish by Zaha, through my legs, and Im bitterly disappointed.

"Palace fought well and were disappointed. But weve got to learn from it."
