95 per cent preferred Pardew

A poll asking Hammers fans who they'd prefer to see succeed Slaven Bilic given a choice of David Moyes or Alan Pardew has concluded.

And from those who responded to our 24-hour poll, just ONE IN 20 voted in favour of signing Moyes, who was announced as the club's 16th full time manager earlier this morning.

Meanwhile Pardew, who has been out of management since being fired by Crystal Palace last year scored an incredible 95 per cent of the vote, on the day KUMB exclusively revealed he wanted the job vacated by Slaven Bilic.

Posting prior to the news of Moyes' appointment, fans gave their reasons for preferring to offer Pardew a second term - instead of bring in the former Everton and Manchester United man.

"Ordinarily I'd say don't go back," wrote fester, "but I was gutted when he got the sack, so the choice between the two is clear cut. Plus I'd love to see the passion of Pardew squaring up to Wenger again!"

Wivenhoe Tim added: "As with most [fellow readers], absolutely anybody but Moyes, but I genuinely feel Pardew might just be what we need right now" - whilst Cottee agreed, stating: "I'd take Pardew all day long - he knows the club, he totally gets the fans and he's a pretty passionate character."

However the situation was summed up by Upton Carp, who insisted that the fans should get behind Moyes now that he has been appointed. "Moyes is drinking in the Last Chance saloon," he wrote.

"I didn't want him here, but it's too late now so I will give him my grudging support. He'd better get us up and running quickly or that support will wither on the vine. Another day, another manager."
