Moyes shocked by 'sack the Board' chants

David Moyes admits that he was unaware of the depth of anti-Board feeling in the West Ham fanbase, after experiencing it for the first time during yesterday's 2-0 defeat at Watford.

The new boss, speaking in his first post-match press conference admitted to being shocked by constant calls throughout the game for the club's current administration to sell up and go - before admitting that he was unaware of the deep-seated resentment harboured by many supporters.

"I don't know the history and all the reason for it as I'm only just here," said Moyes, when asked to comment on the anti-Board chanting. "But I'm really greatful as they were supportive of me; I'm thankful for that.

"I have to say also that we need them right now - we need a united club. I know that's hard to say when you have grievances so those supporters will know much better than I do the history, the past or what they think.

"I said to the players at the end, 'it's tough to play when the crowd's like that' but small things can make a big difference. I can understand the supporters feelings because I didn'tthink we played well enough at times in the second half, later on especially."

And on the match itself, Moyes felt that with a little more luck the Hammers might have enjoyed a better result.

"I just felt we didn't do well enough probably on all the departments at different times," he concluded. "But I did think we created one or two chances that could have altered the outcome. Goals change games..."
