Alan Pardew was left bitterly disappointed by Andy Carroll's last-minute winner - a result that leaves his new team in dire straits.

Speaking to the media following tonight's 2-1 win against his former club, Pardew claimed that his team "were hanging physically and mentally" having been forced to play two matches within 48 hours.
