Antonio concern could force transfer window move

David Moyes says that the continuing uncertainly regarding Michail Antonio's groin injury could lead to him having to sign a replacement during the current transfer window.

Antonio has not featured for the Hammers since being withdrawn an hour into West Ham's 3-2 defeat at home to Newcastle on December 23. And according to Moyes, he could be sidelined for some time yet - leaving the club with no option but to seek an alternative.

"Our medical people believe it could clear up in a couple of weeks but if not, it could be more serious," Moyes said in his latest column for the Standard.

"We’re not sure yet but if it is the latter - and that would be a real shame - we will need to go out to try to make a suitable signing this month because we will need someone who plays down that right-hand side."

With regards to other injury news ahead of this weekend's trip to Huddersfield, Moyes revealed that James Collins is one of several players available for selection once again - whilst confirming that long-term injury victim Jose Fonte is likely to be ready again shortly.

However there are fresh problems for the manager to content with ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash.

"We have doubts about Winston Reid and Andy Carroll," stated Moyes, "but James Collins is back with us - as are Aaron Cresswell, Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini."
