Chelsea are considering a move for Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente as they seek alternative options to West Ham's Amdy Carroll.

The west London club recently contacted West Ham with view to signing the 29-year-old striker but were said to have been put off by West Ham's demands, with United asking in the region of £30million.

And although the Hammers are willing to negotiate their asking price for Carroll, any reduction will almost certainly require the inclusion of Belgian international Michy Batshuayi on loan for the remainder of the season as makeweight.

As a result of the lack of movement Antonio Conte has widened his search to include Llorente, his former striker at Juventus, who has managed to score just twice for Spurs this season.

The 32-year-old cost Tottenham just £12million last summer and would be available for a similar fee - considerably less than West Ham are seeking for Carroll.

* Inter midfielder Joao Mario is currently mulling over a half-season loan move to West Ham, according to reports from Italy.

The 24-year-old cost Inter circa €40million when moving to Italy in the summer of 2016 but has failed to live up to his huge price tag. As a result, his current club are prepared to allow him to leave on a temporary short-term basis.

Recent talks between the two clubs are said to have gone positively with the final decision left to the player, who is considering other options in addition to West Ham. Fellow Premier League side Manchester United were also cited as an interested party recently.
