West Ham are attempting to push through a deal for Krasnodar striker Fedor Smolov, with the transfer window set to close little more than 48 hours from now.

The 27-year-old has spent the vast majority of his career in his homeland but is said to be interested in moving to London in order to have a crack at the Premier League.

Valued around the 12million mark, Smolov - who recently captained his country when deputising for the injured Igor Akinfeev - would act as replacement for Diafra Sakho, who was sold to Stades Rennais at the weekend.

At present West Ham are reported to be reluctant to meet Krasnodar's asking price, with a loan deal plus an option to buy having been tabled.

However The Bulls are reported to be insisting on receiving the entire fee in advance, leading to the current stalemate.

* In other transfer news, West Ham are reported to have made contact with Everton regarding Morgan Schneiderlin.

The French international has spent a year at Goodison Park having moved from Manchester United in a 20million deal last January, but has failed to secure a first team spot under Sam Allardyce.

West Ham are seeking to land the former Southampton defensive midfielder on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

* West Ham's bid to sign Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney appears to be dead in the water.

The Hammers are said to have offered around 15million for the Cottagers captain, but saw the bid rejected. Fulham are said to value the Scottish Championship midfielder around the 30million mark.
