Let the deadline day rumours commence

West Ham are being linked with several players as the Janaury 2018 transfer window enters its final day...

* The Hammers are "leading the race" to sign Leicester City striker Islam Slimani, according to the Mail. Slimani, 29, joined the Foxes 18 months ago in an eye-catching 29million deal but has struggled to command a spot in City's first XI. He has been linked with a move to West Ham several times in previous seasons. Newcastle United are also reported to have expressed an interest.

* West Ham are the latest club to have expressed an interest in signing Lille's in-demand Ibrahim Amadou, say various sources. Valued by his club in the region of 18million, the Hammers are reported to have proposed a loan first, buy later deal (a 2million loan fee with a 14million option to buy in the summer).

* Fulham's refusal to enter into negotiations regarding the possible sale of midfielder Tom Cairney have not deterred West Ham, who are reported to be considering one final bid in order to tempt the Cottagers into selling the Scottish international (ExWHUEmployee). Fulham have previously stated that even a bid of 40million wouldn't persuade them to part company with the 27-year-old.

* West Ham's interest in highly-rated Belgian youngster Leander Dendoncker could be reignited should the club become desperate to secure a notable signing ahead of Wednesday night's transfer deadline. With Everton unwilling to allow Morgan Schneiderlin to leave Goodison Park for a Premier League rival, the 22-year-old - who was recently watched by Stuart Pearce - is once again a potential target. Watford have also expressed some interest in signing the 25million-rated defensive midfielder.

* Andre Ayew remains a West Ham player despite strong interest from former club Swansea. A deal in the region of 18million is on the table but West Ham are unwilling to allow the 28-year-old - who was missing from the squad that drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace - to leave until a suitable replacement has been found.

* Finally, Eidur Gudjohnsen will almost certainly not be moving to West Ham United ahead of Wednesday's deadline - because he retired from professional football in September 2017.
