West Ham United and Preston North End are understood to have agreed a fee for striker Jordan Hugill.

The Hammers turned to the 25-year-old Championship striker on transfer deadline day after offers for the likes of Leicester City's Islam Slimani and Krasnodar striker Fyodor Smolov were rejected.

And it has been revealed in the last few minutes that an offer from West Ham in the region of 9million has been accepted by Preston.

Hugill, who has been heavily touted around by his agent this month has already attracted bids from Championship sides Reading and Leeds United but both were rejected.

The Middlesbrough-born striker is reported to be on his way to London in order to undergo a medical ahead of a move.

* In other transfer news, West Ham and Swansea have finally reached agreement regarding the sale of Andre Ayew.

The Ghanaiain international is on his way back to the Welsh club 18 months after moving to east London in a 20million deal; West Ham are likely to recoup the vast majority of their outlay.
