David Gold says that he expects West Ham will spend more this summer than in any previous pre-season he has been involved with.

With just one week to go until season ticket renewal deadline, 81-year-old Gold took to Talksport this morning to tell fans that the club will be spending big this summer.

And he also confirmed that Manuel Pellegrini has already identified which players he would like to bring into the club ahead of the start of the 2018/19 campaign in August.

"You can’t put a figure on [the manager's transfer budget] because you don’t know the players who are going to leave," Gold told presenter Jim White. "Therefore that will add to the kitty, or wont, as it might be.

“What I can assure everybody is that we’ll probably spend more money in this window than we’ve spent in any window in the past. That bodes well for our intent and we must wait and see where it takes us.

And with reagrds to Pellegrini's impending player acquisitions, Gold added: "He’s working on it right now, that’s his job, that’s why he’s been brought in.

"He’s identified the positions he feels he needs to strengthen and it’s up to him now to tell us the players. We’ll do everything we can to bring them in."

* We'll have more from David Gold's interview with Talksport shortly...
