West Ham Academy star Sead Haksabanovic has been banned from driving after being caught speeding.

The 19-year-old Montenegran has been banned for six months after being caught driving at 52mph in a 30mph zone, according to Aftonbladet.

And as a result, the midfielder's Swedish driving license has also been scrapped and cannot be applied for again until he has spent six months back in the country in which he grew up in.

Haksabanovic's legal team insisted that the player - who recently opted to play for Montenegro rather than his adopted country - required his vehicle in order to attend training, but their pleas were dismissed by the court.

"With regard to Sead Haksabanovic's personal circumstances, it may be noted that he had his license for less than one year when driving above the speed limit," read the court judgment. "Against this background, his past care in traffic can not be considered to be of major importance in the assessment".

The midfielder joined West Ham last August in a 3million switch from Halmstads but is yet to make a single start for the first team. He was on the verge of joining Palermo during January's transfer window but West Ham pulled out of the deal at the last minute.
