West Ham are investigating the possibility of signing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Bernard Duarte on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old - who can also operate in a more central role - has spent the last five years in the Ukrainian Premier League having joined Shakhtar in a €25 million switch from Atlético Mineiro in 2013.

However Bernard, who is commonly known by his forename alone, is detined to leave Ukraine this summer having refused to sign a contract extension - meaning he can depart on a free transfer at the end of the month.

And that has unsurprisingly resulted in serious interest from West Ham, who are keen to boost the club's attacking options this summer having already lost Manuel Lanzini to injury and having thus far failed to lure Felipe Anderson from Lazio.

Bernard snubbed a string of top clubs in order to join Shakhtar Donetsk back in 2013, with the likes of Arsenal, Port and Borussia Dortmund all interested in securing his services at the time.

He ended last season with ten goals to his name haviing helped his club to the last 16 of the Champions League, where they were knocked out by Serie A side Roma on away goals.

* West Ham have contacted Napoli with regards to striker Roberto Inglese, say Sky Sports.

Inglese, 26, spent last season on loan at Chievo - for whom he scored 12 goals in 36 appearances, including three in his final four matches of the campaign - and is said to be rated between £15-£18million.

* West Ham are understood to have had a £12million offer for West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson rejected, say The Telegraph. Writer John Percy suggests that the Hammers are just one of several clubs interested in signing the relegated central defender, who Albion rate at the £20million mark.

However Matt Wilson, writing for the Express & Star adds that West Ham's first and only offer was made a fortnight ago - since when fellow Premier League side Burnley have seen a £25million offer for Dawson and striker Jay Rodriguez turned down.

* Sam Byram could be on the verge of completing a season-long loan move to Championship club Nottingham Forest (various sources).

The right back - who made just 10 appearances for the first team last season - is almost certainly set to leave West Ham this summer following the arrival of Ryan Fredericks, and Forest are considered to be his most likely destination at present.
