Hammers move for Bruno

West Ham are considering a move for Sporting Lisbon and Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The 23-year-old is one of a string of Sporting players hoping to leave the club on a free transfer this summer, despite signing a five-year contract upon moving to Portugal last year in an 8.5million switch from Sampdoria.

That is as a result of a incident in May when Fernandes, along with several team mates was attacked by a group of supporters at Sporting's training grouns after the club failed to secure a Champions League spot for next season.

Unsurprisingly perhaps the situation has alerted West Ham and co-owner David Sullivan, who is investigating the possibility of signing a player who recently broke into the national team and starred in the recent 3-3 draw with Spain.

* West Ham are understood to have had a 15million bid for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro rejected.

The 25-year-old, who operates in central midfielder is thought to be highly-rated by new Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini; West Ham are set to return with a fresh bid for Sturaro, who has been capped four times by Italy.
