Manuel Pellegrini's latest capture is set to join up with his new team mates at their Swiss training camp after completing his medical.

Jack Wilshere will become West Ham's fourth signing of the summer upon completion of those tests, after which he will sign a three-year-contract worth in the region of 5million per year.

A life-long Hammers fan from a family of United supporters, the 26-year-old midfielder was given a free transfer by Arsenal at the end of last season following a succession of injuries - even though he managed to play most of last season injury-free.

And whilst several European clubs subsequently made their interest known, the Stevenage-born Wilshere always preferred to remain in London.

Following brief negotiations between the two parties, Wilshere is set to be confirmed at the club's latest arrival this summer following hot on the heels of Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski.

West Ham flew to Switzerland on Monday lunchtime and will remain there for 12 days as an introduction to pre-season. The Hammers will face local side FC Winterthur in their first friendly of the summer this Sunday, 8 July.
