A spokesman for Borussia Dortmund has confirmed that the German club are prepared to sell wide man Andriy Yarmolenko to West Ham United.

The last 48 hours have seen social media awash with rumours that the Hammers are set to land the experienced 28-year-old winger, who has fallen out of favour with Dortmund's head coach Lucien Favre having failed to shine in his opening season at the Westfalenstadion.

However rumours that the two clubs have agreed a fee have been disputed by sources close to Dortmund, who paid 25million (22million) to sign Yaromolenko from Kiev less than a year ago.

Sporting director Michael "Susi" Zorc confirmed that Die Borussen had opened talks with West Ham, although a fee is yet to be agreed.

West Ham launched a bid to sign the winger after attempts to lure Felipe Anderson from Lazio ended with the Italian's club's chairman Claudio Lotito telling his counterparts in England that "if people do not have the money, they can not buy".

Having been nurtured at the Dynamo Kyiv Youth Academy through his early teens, Yaromolenko made his pro debut for local club Desna Chernihiv in 2006 before returning to Kiev in 2007.

He was to stay with Kiev for the next decade, a period during which he made nearly 80 international appearances for Ukraine, before finally parting company with his boyhood club to join Bundesliga giants Dortmund with whom he signed a four-year contract.

However Yaromolenkoto has failed to settle in at Dortmund, who are prepared to allow him to leave less than a year after moving to Germany - but only when they receive a satisfactory offer close to that which they paid Kiev in the summer of 2017.
