West Ham apply for Anderson permit

West Ham United are set to smash the club's transfer record for a third time in a year after finally reaching an agreement with Lazio regarding the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Felipe Anderson.

After several weeks of negotiations, the two clubs are understood to have agreed a fee of 37million + add-ons (Lee Clayton, Mail) that could tip the fee over the 40million mark.

And that would nearly double West Ham's current record transfer fee of 21million, paid to Toulouse for defender Issa Diop last month.

A KUMB source revealed on Tuesday night that the Hammers have applied for a work permit, which shouldn't be an issue despite Anderson having made just one appearance for the national team, in 2015.

According to sources in Italy, Manuel Pellegrini was largely responsible for the deal being pushed through.

The arrival of Anderson would take United's summer spending to in excess of 80million, following the earlier introduction of Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Andriy Yarmolenko and Jack Wilshere.
