West Ham United's Under 21s face three trips along the M4 corridor in this year's group phase of the Checkatrade Trophy.

West Ham's team, which will mostly consist of players from the club's Under 18s section have been drawn alongside west country sides Bristol Rovers, Exeter City and Yeovil Town in Group D of this year's competition.

The winner of the group will proceed to the knock-out phase of the competition, which includes all League One and League Two clubs plus 16 of the nation's best Academies from Premier League and Championship clubs. They are as follows:

Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Leicester City, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Southampton, Stoke City, Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In 2017/18 West Ham finished runners-up in their group (Southern Group C) before being knocked out of the competition by Bedfordshire-based, League Two side Luton Town in the first knockout round.

The Hammers were comfortably beaten on the night, losing 4-0 thanks to goals from Lawson D'Ath, Aaron Jarvis, Kavan Cotter and Jordan Cook.

Last season's trophy - which was formerly known as the Associate Members' Cup - was won by Lincoln City, who beat Shrewsbury Town 1-0 in the Final at Wembley Stadium.

Checkatrade Trophy: results 2017/18

Southern Group C
Swindon Town 2-3 West Ham Utd
Bristol Rovers 1-3 West Ham Utd
Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 West Ham Utd

First Knockout Round
Luton Town 4-0 West Ham Utd
