And how a string of clubs are said to be interested in signing the youngster on a permanent basis - including Championship club Leeds United, Dutch giants Ajax plus German Bundesliga sides Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen.

Quina has just one year remaining on his current contract and West Ham, who have no plans at present to promote him to the first team set-up, are considering cashing in before losing the player for a nominal fee.

* Another youngster linked with the exit door at West Ham is Edimilson Fernandes. The Swiss international, who narrowly missed out on selection for the World Cup Finals this summer is being courted by Sampdoria.

The Serie A side are said to want to pair Fernandes alongside new arrival Stephane M’Bia, a recent signing from Manuel Pellegrini's former Chinese club Hebei China Fortune, according to local source Il Secolo XIX.

* Former Hammer Elliott Ward, who featured for West Ham in the 2004/05 play off Final against Preston at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium has failed to secure a contract at Charlton Athletic, with whom he has been training recently.

Now 33, centre half Ward was released on a free transfer by MK Dons at the end of the 2017/18 season at the end of a short term contract. He had been training with the Addicks primarily in order to boost his fitness, but had harboured hopes of securing a contract.
