Hernandez to stay, says Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini has told Javier Hernandez that he will be an important part of his squad this season.

Many supporters feared that the Mexican international would be made surplus to requirements this summer, following the arrival of Pellegrini and an indifferent first season at the club.

However Pellegrini has assuaged any fears that Hernandez may leave West Ham this summer by confirming that the 'Little Pea' is very much part of his plans for the
forthcoming campaign.

"I spoke with Javier before he played the World Cup, when I signed here," revealed Pellegrini. "I told him that he would be a very important player here with me."

Hernandez moved to West Ham a year ago this month in a 14million switch from Bayer Leverkusen, but struggled to settle and spent much of the season as a substitute.

In all, 'Chicharito' featured in a total of 33 games for West Ham last season, scoring eight goals. He also featured on six occasions for Mexico, scoring just once, against South Korea in the World Cup.
