Snodgrass praises 'feel good' factor [video]

West Ham goalscorer Robert Snodgrass has praised Manuel Pellegrini for installing a more positive atmosphere at the club.

The Scottish winger netted the last of West Ham's three goals in their pre-season success against Aston Villa at the Bescot Stadium tonight.

And speaking to whufc.com after the game, Snodgrass - who only two months ago was on a losing Villa side in the Championship play-off final - revealed that the new manager had given the entire squad a boost.

"The boss has come in and his record speaks for itself. He’s phenomenal," he said. "The lads have taken to him and his staff straight away and there’s a good feel about the place.

"We’re working day and night and doing a lot of things to start the season well. Anybody watching that first half - and the second half, in spells - would've seen us coming in off the line and the full backs getting around. That’s exactly what the boss has brought to the table.

"Another thing you’ve seen is the fitness level tonight. The lads were great and Aston Villa started a week before us as well, so we’re in good shape and we’re ticking along nicely."

Despite enjoying his goal, Snodgrass remained philosophical when considering his future at the club.

Having recently returned from that season on loan at Villa Park, and with Pellegrini having already stretched the transfer budget to sign top-class wingers such as Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko, Snodgrass knows he faces a real battle to force his way into the manager's thinking.

"The forward-thinking players we’ve got, with Arnautovic, Antonio, Anderson and Yarmolenko; you’ve got loads of options and people moving off the ball," he said. "So when you get that chance, why not try and take it?

"I want to try and get minutes and play in my position. I played tonight and got a chance and it’s great to get a goal, but the performance in the first half was pleasing."
