End of the road for Hugill?

Jordan Hugill's time at West Ham looks as if it may be coming to an end - after the striker was one of several notable omissions from this week's tour party.

Manuel Pellegrini and his first team squad flew out to Austria on Monday to prepare for the forthcoming Premier League season, which begins early next month, and two friendlies this week against Mainz and Angers.

However Hugill - who signed for West Ham in an 8million switch from Preston North End last January - has not been included in the touring party, lending weight to suggestions that he is set to leave the club imminently.

The 26-year-old is yet to make a single start for West Ham since moving south more than six months ago and has been tipped with a loan return to the Championship in recent weeks.

Leeds United and Nottingham Forest have both been mentioned as potential destinations, although Middlesbrough are also keeping an eye on Hugill's situation with view to a potential offer.

However the former Preston striker is not the only first team squad member who has failed to make the Austrian trip, with other high-profile players such as Sam Byram, Edimilson Fernandes and Reece Oxford all being omitted too.

Byram and Oxford, who has been tipped with a return to the Bundesliga, both played a full 90 minutes for the Under 23s on Saturday in a goalless draw at Barnet.

As did former Everton youngster Nathan Holland, another of West Ham's Academy hopefuls who has previously expressed his desire to break into the first team squad at some point this season.
