Two clubs are vying for the signature of West Ham full back Sam Byram as the transfer deadline approaches its deadline.

The right back barely featured for West Ham last season due to injury and has since been replaced in Manuel Pellegrini's first team squad by Ryan Fredericks, who arrived form Fulham earlier in the summer.

Having been made surplus to requirements by the new manager, Nottingham Forest looked nailed on to land Byram on loan for the season. - That was until Middlesbrough, who signed Jordan Hugill on loan from the Hammers yesterday, entered the equation.

We'll have more for you on this story as it develops.
