Fiorentina have confirmed the capture of West Ham United's Edimilson Fernandes on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old Swiss international has joined La Viola just a matter of days after Carlos Sanchez completed the opposite journey and will spend the 2018/19 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Fernandes joined West Ham from FC Sion in August 2016, signing a four-year contract with the club. West Ham paid 5million to sign the midfielder, who has since gone on to represent United on 48 occasions (25 of which were substitute appearances).

Fernandes joins the likes of Martin Samuelsen (VVV Venlo), Jordan Hugill (Middlesbrough) and Sam Byram (Nottingham Forest) who have similarly signed season-long loan deals with their respective clubs.
