Date confirmed for Cup tie

West Ham will face Macclesfield on Wednesday, 26 September, it has been confirmed.

The two teams meet in the third round of the Carabao Cup next month after West Ham beat AFC Wimbledon and the League Two side brushed aside the challenges of Bradford (first round) and Wallsall in a dramatic second round, penalty shootout.

Town, the lowest-ranked side of the 32 remaining in the competition have faced West Ham twice before in Cup competitions, losing both contests.

The last meeting took place in 2008 when extra time goals from Carlton Cole, Zavon Hines ansd Kyel Reid secured victory for West Ham at the Boleyn Ground after the game was deadlocked (1-1) after 90 minutes.
