Real Betis striker Loren Moron has claimed that he rejected the opportunity to join West Ham United in the summer.

The 24-year-old Marbella-born goalscorer, who was playing for Betis' B team until last season signed a new contract with the Spanish club during pre-season, extending his stay at the Benito Villamarín for an additional four years.

However he also claimed that in doing so he spurned the opportunity to move to London and join West Ham, who he said had presented a firm offer to Betis. "It is true there were several clubs who contacted me regarding their interest," he told Estadio Deportivo.

"We had one firm proposal from West Ham, but I did not want to throw away the opportunity I have here at Betis after moving through the youth system and playing for the reserve side.

“I let my agents know, I told my parents and friends and told them that my intention was to stay and continue here. Now I am finally reaping what I sowed a long time ago and I am enjoying my time here a lot."

Since being promoted to Betis' first team, Moron - whose father was also a professional footballer - for has scored nine goals in 23 appearances, all in La Liga.
