Controversial committee member resigns

A WHUISA committee member whose election caused a number of members to withdraw their membership has resigned just three months later.

Sean Whetstone has confirmed his resignation from WHUISA in the wake of the group's decision not to apply for membership of West Ham United's new supporter consultation group, the West Ham United Supporters Board (WHUSB).

Whetstone - who provides content for Hugh Southon's Claret & Hugh blog was heavily involved in the WHUSB's predecessor, the much-maligned Support Advisory Board (SAB), and is understood to support the club's new initiative.

WHUISA are yet to confirm whether they will be seeking a new officer to replace the outgoing Whetstone, whose original appointment led to a number of ISA members withdrawing their support for the organisation due to his close links with the Board.

The news has been welcomed by those who originally argued against Whetstone's appointment. "My belief is that his presence on the committee compromised the independence of WHUISA," wrote KUMB member brownout.
