The opposition view: Burnley

As Burnley ship four (or more) for the third successive Premir Legaue match, some Clarets fans complain about the manager. Or the goalkeeper. Or the centre half. It's all in this week's latest edition of the OV...

"The architects of our own downfall. The shape was generally OK in the first half but we were sluggish and there was no purpose to our play. We need to be much sharper and incisive with our use of the ball when we win it, if we can do that consistently and get our passing success up then we will be absolutely fine. If not then it's going to be a case of hoping that there are three teams worse than us. Lots and lots of work to be done, but we've proved we are capable previously and we have absolutely the right man in place to turn these players around."

"First half was terrible and it was a miracle we managed to go in level. Second half we were better going forward but defensively we look all over the place at the moment. Every time West Ham came forward they looked like they were going to score and, more often than not, did. As bad as it was, that score line probably flatters us."
- kaptin1

"It's West Ham FFS, you can't expect to compete with teams like this when they've spent million of pounds on players. The ref was poor. We were good in patches. We aren't a million miles away. We will be fine when Brady and Defour get back playing. We need to start Vydra. Points will come in the next few weeks. We will get back to basics."
- MACCA

"Joe Hart is proving what West Ham fans already know, Southgate already knows, Torino fans already know, and what any Burnley fan with eyes are soon to learn. He is no longer good enough. He lost his form a long time ago. West Ham, a team who finished well below us last season were not breaking down doors to sign him. England wouldnít go near him now. In Heaton we have a player who was being fancied as an England 'keeper before his injury. In Hart we have someone who has already had his day. I am not saying we are crap because of Hart, but we need to look to change something and we have run out of options in changing outfield players..."
- Inchy

"That was a definite penalty. We got away with that."
- ClaretAndJew

"Something HAS to change. Defensively, we have been embarrassing this season. It has been shambolic. This isnít a reactionary fickle post. Itís November, we are getting worse, and we donít look like weíd keep clean sheets in a division below. Dyche has made changes when necessary in the past. But if he doesnít make changes, or sort the problem out, then his position has to be questioned. Iíll give him time, but he doesnít have a free ticket to the Championship. Iíve been fair in the past when Iíve noticed problems, and trusted Dyche. I still trust him, but that trust will only remain if things improve."
- Roosterbooster

"Any calls for Dyche to go are embarrassing, ungrateful and short sighted, but it concerns me that we have lost all sense of our identity. What are we at the moment? Conceding loads and offering little going forwards it seems. Our ball retention in particular is atrocious and it really does look like our boys donít want the ball, whereas they were desperate to get on it last year. Victims of our own success and the confidence it brought I think."
- claretgilly

"All the doubters are out in force. We played some decent stuff in the second half, I know it couldn't have got worse but it turned out to be a watchable 45 minutes. We all know things are not as they should be at the club, there is so much negativity about at present from fans to the players. The talk of SD leaving the club is more of a worry to me, should he be on his way then I think relegation is very much on the cards. Stick behind the lads and we will come up trumps in the end, you'll see."
- moaninclaret

"Were Lowton and Tarkowski really that bad or was Anderson simply sensational? Let us not forget he is a £35m signing. Amazing what a freebie stadium can do. We seem to be conceding too much space between our defence and midfield. Arnautovic dominated that space today. It leads to lots more shots in and around our box. Our defence is deeper. Not sure why. Solve that, we solve a big problem."
- CrosspoolClarets

"Mee had a strange game; he seemed more interested in getting back and making goal line blocks than closing down and actually defending. Our discipline is also letting us down. Defour could have given away a penalty and Tarky got a red on top of the other three yellows. Sliding towards relegation."
- paulatky

"I would much rather be in the Championship where we can play decent attacking football and have some entertainment. Getting beat 4-2 at West Ham and Fulham is rubbish, whatever the prestige of the league is."
- ClaretJimmy

"Bobby Moore wasnt even the best in his position. He was just the prettiest. But playing for media darlings West Ham got you selected. Jimmy Adamson was a great player but overlooked for England caps. Joe Shaw who played for Sheff Utd was the best centre back of his generation and was also overlooked by England selectors."
- Woodleyclaret

"Contrary to what many have said on here of late (me included) I think we are now giving people value for money. You can't argue with 15 goals in our last three games. The idea of giving deep joy to all those opposition fans and not a few neutrals should be making us happy, after all comedy doesn't come much better than watching Burnley just now. "
