However it has been confirmed that the 58-year-old had been "reminded of his responsibilities" and would have to take part in two workshops prior to returning to the training ground.
A club spokesman told the BBC: "West Ham United can confirm that following suspension and subsequent investigation, academy coach Mark Phillips has been reinstated to his role in accordance with employment law, and has been reminded of his responsibilities."
The 58-year-old coach will have to undergo courses relating to anti-discrimination before returning to his post, although the spokesman insisted that the courses in question had to be sat by all club employees.
According to The Times, West Ham's internal investigation determined that Phillips had brought the club into disrepute and breached its social media policy.
However it was decided that there was insufficient reason to fire the lifelong Hammers fan, who was instead issued a final written warning regarding his future conduct.
