Chelsea Chairman Bruce Buck has asked all 20 Premier League clubs to contribute to a 5m 'golden handshake' for outgoing chairman Richard Scudamore.

The 59-year-old, who earns a salary of 2.5million is leaving his post at the Premier League after 19 years in the role.

And Chelsea's Buck has incurred the wrath of many regular football-going folk by asking fellow Premier League clubs to contribute towards a 5million 'farewell gift' for Scudamore, who has already earned more than 26million since taking the position.

Buck is reported to be a close friend of Scudamore, who he has known since becoming Chairman of the London club in 2003. Scudamore has been working for the Premier League since November 1999.

It is understood that most Premier League clubs are ready to comply with the American lawyer's request - serving to make an already incredibly wealthy man even richer.

The figure equates to 4.39 per supporter for a capacity 57,000 crown at Stratford. You may comment on this story below or via the KUMB Forum.

* Scudamore's replacement has been named as Susanna Dinnage, the former Global President of Animal Planet, a flagship Discovery TV brand.

Commenting on her appointment, Dinnage - who has previously been a Fulham season ticket holder - said: "I am excited at the prospect of taking on this fantastic role.

"The Premier League means so much to so many people. It represents the pinnacle of professional sport and the opportunity to lead such a dynamic and inspirational organisation is a great privilege.

"With the support of clubs and the team, I look forward to extending the success of the League for many years to come."
