Rice targets maximum points

Declan Rice believes that West Ham have the opportunity to take a maximum nine points from nine out of this week's three Premier League fixtures.

The Hammers got the week off to a perfect start with Saturday afternoon's 3-0 win at Newcastle. And with Cardiff and Crystal Palace scheduled to visit Stratford within the next six days, Rice believes West Ham have a great opportunity to maximise their return.

"Saturday was a special start to this next run of games," Rice told the club's website. "We have got Cardiff and then Palace and we have got to look at it as a chance to get nine points.

"Since the Everton game, when we got our first win, things have started to click. We’ve played well in nearly all our games and we’ve either scored but conceded more and lost or we’ve played really well and won.

"We’re all excited for Tuesday now and to try and get another three points and move up the table."

Meanwhile Javier Hernandez, who scored two of United's three goals at St James' Park also belives that West Ham can use the forthcoming run of fixtures to push up the table.

"December is crucial for us to get as many points as we can and to achieve the goals we want to," he added. "We are all ready for the Christmas period.

"Saturday was nearly perfection. We got the three points, we scored three goals, created a lot of chances and got a clean sheet - so it was almost a perfect day. Always though, when you win or lose, you are thinking about the things you need to do to keep improving."
