Academy midfielder Sead Haksabanovic has joined IFK Norrköping on loan - until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Haksabanovic, who recently returned from an aborted loan spell at Malaga has wasted no time in finding a new club and was announced as the Swedish club's latest signing on Thursday.

And speaking to the Allsvenskan's clubs website, Haksabanovic revealed that he was delighted to have secured a spot in one of Sweden's top clubs.

"I chose IFK because I think Norrköping plays the finest football in Sweden," he told ifknorrkoping.se. "That's why I chose IFK, I want to play football. It feels good.

"I've know [manager] Jens [Gustafsson] since my time at Halmstad; I believe a lot in him and he believes in me. I look forward to playing in front of the fans, winning matches and having fun with the team."

Meanwhile manager Gustafsson added: "We have worked for a long time to be able to tie Sead to us. He is a player we have been following for a long time, not least myself, and I am sure he will be loved by the fans when he starts performing on the pitch."

Haksabanovic, who joined West Ham in the summer of 2017 and is said to earn a salary in the region of £1million per year - has made just two appearances for United; one in the FA Cup (a 2-0 defeat at Wigan) and another in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win against Bolton.

His loan spell at Malaga saw him feature for the first XI just twice, against Gimnastic on November 17 and then against Granada a fortnight later in a 1-0 home defeat.
