Zaha gets the nod for West Ham clash

Wilfried Zaha has been cleared to play against West Ham at Selhurst Park this weekend - despite having his ban extended earlier today.

The Crystal Palace forward was dismissed during a match against Southampton last weekend for openly mocking referee Andre Marriner after he sarcastically clapped the official's initial decision to book him following a clash with James Ward-Prowse.

Zaha was rewarded with a one-match ban that has since been extended to two matches.

However should the 26-year-old choose to appeal against the FA's decision to double his ban, he will be free to play until such time as that appeal has been heard - meaning that he will almost certainly be available for selection this weekend.

Zaha, who has claimed in the past that he is offered little-to-no protection by referees apologised to Palace supporters earlier in the week following his dismissal at St Mary's in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw.

"All I can do is apologise to the team and the fans for my red card tonight, because I could have cost us today," he wrote on his Instagram account. "I will learn from it for sure."
