Former Hammer Tomas Repka has launched an appeal after he was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for fraud.

Repka, 45, was taken to court after it wad claimed that he sold a luxury hire car to an unsuspecting member of the public, having pretended that he owned the vehicle.

And having been found guilty of the offence, the former Czech Republic international was informed that he could expect to serve more than a year inside - before immediately launching an appeal against the ruling.

Repka, who made 188 appearances for West Ham between 2001 and 2006 also landed himself in hot water last year after he was fined for posting fake escort ads featuring his ex-wife online.

Despite being sentenced to a six-month jail term it was downgraded to community service and a fine following a successful appeal.

No stranger to controversy, Repka was involved in numerous incidents during his time at West Ham - including an altercation with supporters following a 2-2 draw with Brighton, in which he was recorded telling Hammers fans who criticised his performance to "fuck off".
