West Ham United are heading for a short break in Spain as they prepare for their next fixture against Fulham, 11 days from now.

Having been knocked out of the FA Cup by League One AFC Wimbledon, Manuel Pellegrini and his squad have no fixture this weekend - allowing the squad the opportunity to leave a chilly UK for the warmer climes of southern Spain.

And according to striker Javier Hernandez, it's a trip the entire squad are looking forward to. "It will be a good camp for us, to change our routine a little bit," he said.

"We'll go to Spain to train a little bit and to get the team better, to improve on our mistakes. Our aim is to get the three points against Fulham - and then we can start thinking about the rest of it."

Meanwhile manager Manuel Pellegrini insisted that the break would prove to be a good opportunity for the team to get some relaxation ahead of the final 12 games of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign. "I think this break will be very useful for us," said the boss.

"We are not going on holiday - we are going to work, maybe in better weather than here. Also, to take them out some days is good for the group; there are many things that made me decide to take the team there.

"We wanted to continue in the FA Cup, that was our intention, but we couldn’t do it. In one way it is good for some players that have been playing too many games since the beginning of the season."
