Manchester City may have won the Carabao Cup on Sunday afternoon - but at considerable cost.

The Citizens beat Chelsea in a penalty shootout at Wembley following a dour goalless draw to claim their first trophy of a season in which they are still chasing four, with the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League still on their radar.

However they will be without several important first team stars when they face West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening as a result of injuries collected during their recent successes.

"Being in four competitions is so demanding, so tough," said City manager Pep Guardiola. "We will miss a lot of important players for a few weeks; Fernandinho and Laporte will be some weeks out."

In addition to the loss of the aforementioned duo, City will also definitely be without central defender John Stones and full back Benjamin Mendy when the two sides meet for the midweek clash.

"Winning this game is good for the enthusiasm," added Guardiola."But we are going to suffer for the next competitions, especially in the Champions League and Premier League."
