And mooted to take place in 2019's competition are Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United - alongside Manuel Pellegrini's West Ham.

Pellegrini's last management role prior to joining the Hammers was in the Chinese Super League, where he took control of Hebei China Fortune between 2016 and 2018.

West Ham have only been involved in the Asia Trophy once before, back in 2009. Then Gianfranco Zola's side finished in third-place having come up against Tottenham, Hull City and Beijing Guoan.
