And now Johnson - who has been at West Ham since the age of just seven - has extended his stay by signing a new deal tying him to the club until the summer of 2022.

"Extending my stay here is fantastic news for me and my family.," he told whufc.com. "I'm so privileged and blessed to be playing for West Ham; it’s great and I'm very proud.

"It’s been a rollercoaster; coming here at seven, [moving] through the age groups and really pushing on. It’s been a great journey, and I look back now to see how far I've actually come.

"There are so many who have helped me along the way, I can’t say them all! Jimmy Hampshier, Ian Yuill, Danny Searle, James Gritt, Liam Manning, Pottsy, Mark Phillips, Terry Westley (pictured above)… so many."

Although he hasn't featured for the first XI since making his debut, hopes are high that Johnson will push on and become just the latest home-grown youngster to emerge from West Ham's Academy.
