Hammers on song

A number of the first team squad have been in the recording studios to record a selection of songs for an EP likely to be released for charity.

The players have been secretly visiting legendary producer Trevor Horn’s Sarm Studios in West London on their afternoons off to lay down tracks in the former Island Studios where parts of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and Band Aid’s Do they Know It’s Christmas were recorded.

One player, who asked not to be named, told KUMB: “It started out as a bit of a joke when one of the new guys this season sang his initiation piece. It was so awful that someone jokingly mentioned that even Trevor Horn couldn’t save it.

"From that one thing led to another and for the last few weeks we’ve been spending our spare time up West recording vocals whilst the production guys sprinkle their fairy dust on the tracks. We’ve got enough in the can for an EP but we’ll have a think about extending it to a full album if we get time."

There has been no release date as yet and we were told that there are no plans for there to be a tour due to scheduling conflicts between the UEFA Nations League and the O2 Arena.

Although the player wished to remain anonymous, he did give us a sneak preview of the – as yet unnamed – album’s tracklist which we can share as follows:

1) Slow Boat To China – Marko Arnautovic
2) When Irish Eyes Are Smiling – Declan Rice
3) Doctor Doctor – Andy Carroll
4) I Fought The Law – Robert Snodgrass
5) Hand In Glove – Lukasz Fabianski
6) Ain’t Nobody – Manuel Lanzini

We’ll update you with further details this afternoon.
