Rice dismisses transfer speculation

Declan Rice says he is ignoring speculation regarding his immediate future.

Since making his England debut during the recent international break, Rice's future has been the source of much speculation within the media.

Viewed as almost an affront by some sections of the press that he plays for a club outside of the established Premier League elite, Rice has since been linked with a move to Manchester (both City and United) as well as other high-flying clubs.

However the Irons midfielder insisted that he is happy at West Ham, where he made his league debut last season and for whom he has completed more than 50 first team appearances since.

"I love every minute of being at West Ham," he told BT Sport. "Iím happy, Iím playing week in, week out and I have a special connection with the fans. Itís unbelievable.

"Being compared to players, being linked to other teams, I donít really take any of it in, to be honest. If you think about it too much you get caught up in it. Iím only 20, youíve got your whole career ahead of you.

"Iím just focused on playing for West Ham and playing with a smile on my face and enjoying it."

Rice's comments come just a matter of days after Manuel Pellegrini appeared to suggest that Rice was available for sale - at the right price.

"There are big teams who decide to pay an important amount of money," said the Hammers boss.

"Sure, if it [selling Rice] is a good deal for the club and the player and improves his career, then we can do it. But I know nothing about that yet."
