Sam Allarydce is a shock contender to be one of the celebrities selected to perform in the new series of TV's premier dance show Strictly Come Dancing.

And the former Hammers boss, 64, who has been out of regular work since leaving Everton at the end of last season has already held talks already with regards to performing on the show.

"He met TV executives this week in a hotel bar," an unnamed source told the Daily Mail.
"They assured him that the show's edited so that no one comes across as a terrible dancer, mentioning Katie Piper as someone who was not 'a natural' but who got the public behind her.

"They were talking to him about the Christmas special but emphasised that they want him on a whole series, rather than just a one-off."

Should Allardyce opt to take up the BBC's offer he could be joined by the likes of presenters Chris Evans (Virgin), Alan Carr (BBC) and Radzi Chinyanganya (Blue Peter), all of whom have been linked with appearing on the new series of the popular show.

Allardyce spent four season as manager of West Ham between 2011 and 2015, when his contract expired. During that spell he took West Ham back into the Premier League and achieved 10th, 12th and 13th placed finishes.

Big Sam - as he is popularly known - was eventually replaced at West Ham by Slaven Bilic.
