The Olymnpic Stadium's new claret carpet has finally been laid - nearly two years after its introduction was first mooted.
The following pictures were published by Football.London before mysteriously being removed this afternoon. However an eagle-eyed fan managed to preserve the images prior to them being taken down.As you can see, the new surface provides a clear distinction between the playing surface and the surrounding areas, which was the bone of contention previously with players claiming that it was difficult to ascertain where the edges of the pitch were.
