Overpriced Easter gifts? It's no yoke!

Bristol City have been forced to remove Easter eggs from their online store after they were accused of ripping off fans.

The Championship club withdrew the eggs from sale following a series of complaints from supporters, who complained that the same product was available for a far cheaper price elsewhere.

Eggsactly the same inside! City's marketing department slammed by fans

Bristol City's in-house egg was housed in a cardboard sleeve featuring the club's logo. However when you removed the sleeve, the packaging revealed a Cadbury-produced egg - exactly the same as those currently available in the shops for between 1 to 3.

Although the club refused to comment when approached by the BBC, a number of fans were angry at the club's apparent attempt to rip off supporters.

"Despite it being my club, I've got to bring this up," wrote City fan Michael McGuinness on Twitter. "Bristol City are selling a 1 Easter egg with a 'Bristol City cardboard cover' for 7!"

And fellow fan Wayne Spirrell was equally disappointed. "Poor effort, overpriced tat, should never be repeated," he added.

However Bristol are not the only club to attempt to cash in via this method during Easter.

You'll pay nearly three times the going rate for this WHUFC-branded bar of Toblerone

A cursory glance at West Ham United's online store revealed that the club are selling a West Ham-themed bar of Toblerone chocolate - which usually retails for around 3.50 - for 10.

Meanwhile, a West Ham-branded box of Milk Tray chocolates, that retail in the high street for anywhere between 6-8, are also available in West Ham's online store for no less than 12.99.

Rather than equating to supermarket prices, the fees charged by West Ham and Bristol City (and presumably other football clubs) are more in line with companies that offer personalised, one-off Toblerone bars.
