We deserved the three points

Club captain Mark Noble believes that West Ham United fully deserved to take all three points from Tottenham on Saturday.

The Hammers became the first team to win at the north London club's new stadium at the weekend, just 24 days after it was officially opened.

And Noble, who played an instrumental role in the victory was - unsurprisingly perhaps for a Canning Town boy - pretty pleased with the outcome of the match.

"We got a great goal, we defended brilliantly and in the end I thought we deserved our three points," Noble told whufc.com.

"We were brave in the way we played away from, the way we took the game to them. We went there to win the game.

"What a time it was to score the first away goal at this stadium. With his performance, Michail deserved it. He was fantastic.

"We probably should've scored another couple of goals, but we’ll take a 1-0 all day long. What a win for us."

Noble received much praise from supporters following his performance on Saturday, one of his best this season.

However he was beaten to the Man of the Match award by young centre half Issa Diop, who similarly excelled during the match.

Although West Ham only enjoyed 37 per cent of overall possession during the game, United registered 16 shots on goal (seven on target) to Tottenham's 14 (four on target) whilst winning seven corners to Spurs' two.
