Nasri given clean bill of health

Samir Nasri could make what is expected to be his final appearance in a West Ham short when United travel to Watford on the final day of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

The former French international has spent much of his half-year contract with the club on the treatment table and has amassed a total of just six appearances - five in the Premier League and one in the FA Cup - since joining on a free transfer at the beginning of the year.

However he has been declared fit for this weekend's season climax at Vicarage Road. "Samir Nasri is fit, he doesn't have any problems and is part of the squad," said Manuel Pellegrini. "Except for Andy Carroll, Winston Reid and Andriy Yarmolenko, everyone is fit."

However the news with regard to the Ukrainian international was equally as encouraging, with Yarmolenko already back in training with the rest of the first team squad according to Pellegrini.

"Yarmolenko is working with the squad 100%,", added the manager, "but he is not ready to play."

Pellegrini, who took over from David Moyes as managerial incumbent last summer has already eclipsed the points totals set in the previous two seasons in Stratford.

However he maintained that despite having secured 49 Premier League points already - more than 2016/17's tally of 45 and last year's even more meagre return of 42, but considerably less than the 62 recorded by SLaven Bilic's squad in the final season at the Boleyn Ground - he would like to hit the half century mark this weekend.

"I hope we can finish with a third win in a row and get to 50 points too," he said. "When we started the season, we had just six weeks working in pre-season, but now after one year of working we have an improvement and, as I said, that must continue."
