Josh Cullen says he is looking forward to trying to secure a place in West Ham's first team squad following a successful season at Charlton.

Cullen, 23, played a pivotal role in Charlton's return to the Championship following a season on loan at The Valley. His season culminated with the cross which led to Athletic's winning goal in the play off final against Sunderland.

And now, having returned to east London, he has set his sights on a successful season at West Ham - where Manuel Pellegrini has already indicated that he want to take a closer look at the midfielder's progression.

"West Ham want me back for pre-season; all I can do is perform," said Cullen.

""Thereís no point in talking off the pitch, youíve just got to perform on the pitch when you can. Iíve enjoyed a good season at Charlton; a successful season, and hopefully I can go back to West Ham and hit the ground running."

The Southend-born youngster also thanked his former team mates at Charlton, whom he wished the very best of luck for next season in the Championship.

"Everyone has deserved that all season; everyone in the dressing room, everyone at the club and the fans," he added.

"Promotion is what we set out to achieve and thatís what we did. Iím over the moon. We got the goal in the end which I think was deserved, and Charlton are back in the Championship."
