West Ham will face Athletic Bilbao for the first time since the two teams last traded blows at Julian Dicks testimonial.

The mid-table Spanish side, who ended the 2018/19 eighth in the Spanish top flight will visit Stratford on Saturday, 3 August to face West Ham in this summer's annual pre-season Betway Cup clash.

Tickets for the game are priced from £10 for adults and £2 for minors and go on sale next Tuesday, 11 June.

The meeting with Bilbao will no doubt bring back memories of Dicks' August 2000 testimonial at the Boleyn Ground, a match that was marred by a 17-man brawl to which West Ham's Paolo Di Canio was central.

The Italian forward was replaced by Harry Redknapp on the stroke of half time when referee Barry Knight ordered him to withdraw the Italian after he slapped an opponent in the face.

Bilbao's Joseba Etxeberria was similarly replaced by Athletic's coach at the time, Txetxu Rojo in a match enjoyed by some 14,000 supporters.

Hopes that West Ham might face Lazio in this summer's Betway Cup were dashed when it was revealed the Serie A outfit, who have formed an affiliation with some West Ham supporters over the years would be facing Bournemouth instead.
