Jack's son began experiencing seizures when aged just four which led to the Hammers star and his wife spending numerous nights in hospital - a situation that Jack says nearly ended his career as he wondered if he would be able to cope.

"For the first four or five months of that rehab I was in and out of hospitals, sleeping with my son," he said. "I didn't really care [about my career] to be honest, as my main focus was him."

However with his son's condition stabilised and having been handed a fresh start at West Ham, Wilshere says he has rediscovered his mojo.

"I want to play for as long as possible," he added. "I genuinely love football, it's my life. My goal is to get back in the team and win as many games as possible. At the moment, that is all I'm focused on."
