Julian Dicks has departed Heybridge Swifts in order to team up with Slaven Bilic at West Bromwich Albion.

Dicks, who spent three years with Albion's arch rivals Birmingham as a teenager has been confirmed as Bilic's latest signing for the Championship club, just eight months after taking the managerial reigns at Scraley Road.

The news was confirmed by Swifts chairman Gary White, who told the Swifts' website: "While we are disappointed to lose Julian after he did a superb job for our club last season, this opportunity is simply too good for him to miss.

"It gives him a chance to work again in the Premier League, where he was previously with Slaven at West Ham for two seasons until November 2017.

"We all wish him well in his new role and thank him for doing such a terrific job after coming in following a disappointing run of league and cup results."

Dicks' role at the Isthmian league club is expected to be handed to his former assistant, Karl Duguid, an appointment pending ratification by the Heybridge Board.

Meanwhile the former KUMB columnist becomes the latest member of an Albion backroom team that already includes up-and-coming Croatian coaches Dean Racunica and Danilo Butorovic.
