Re: Little things that irritate you
Sitting in my computer chair at the PC doing photo editing, nice and relaxed. As you do, when in the comfort of your own home, I'm giving it a bit of the old man leg spread, jeans rather snug on my nuts. Along comes the kitten, stretches himself up and starts sharpening his claws on my b*llocks.
****ing little ginger ****.

Same goes for the rest of System Centre. I work with the backend databases every day.DasNutNock wrote:SCCM. What a pile of over-complicated b*llocks.
Actually, same goes for most modern Microsoft developed systems. The cynical side of me thinks they do it on purpose

Re: Little things that irritate you
MS bought most of system center, bundled it together and have barely touched it since. SCOM is a laughably sh*t monitoring platform - massively over-complicated, and the insistence that they know best just shows how impractical a product it is.
As for SCCM, we only use it for patching servers, not app releases, so God only knows what that must feel like. But for something that should ultimately be fairly simple (copy files to endpoint and run a script) it is offensively over-engineered, and isn't designed to work in secure networks.
Load of SH*TE.

I probably should've asked VM anyway - he knows SCCM better than I do.

Re: Little things that irritate you
We use it for PXE images, software deployment and MS updates and patches , I only thank f*** that I only deal with the day to day monitoring of this **** and not the config, as we are on an RLI , we can not connect directly to MS and have to go through a secure MoD connection making it a whole Satans hairy b*llocks level of shithousey worseDasNutNock wrote:MS bought most of system center, bundled it together and have barely touched it since. My primary task on top of this is McAfee EPO , people wonder why I am starting to give less than a f*** at work
Re: Little things that irritate you
Still use it a lot although I can see it eventually being retired in favour of Intune. Shame as I've worked with it for years and has always been my favourite 'specialist subject'.DasNutNock wrote:I probably should've asked VM anyway - he knows SCCM better than I do.
Use SCOM as well but that is a different beast and can be way too complicated if its not set up properly.

Re: Little things that irritate you
Monitoring's one of my black belts and I think SCOM is completely unfit for purpose for anyone other than a very small setup.V-M wrote:Use SCOM as well but that is a different beast and can be way too complicated if its not set up properly.

Re: Little things that irritate you
I am dreading yet again MoD Block leave week after next,
MoD Policy 1. all IT kit must be powered on at all times to comply with MoD Policy on security , patching , updates and Anti-virus compliance
MoD policy 2 . . . to save money turn off everything
in two weeks time :My security officer... why are we not up to compliance levels

Re: Little things that irritate you
Sorry, I've been covering monthly maintenance this weekend - the guy who normally does it's brother passed away last weekend, so I've been trying to keep things ticking over in his absence. Should be finished soon, thank God.V-M wrote:I cannot believe we are discussing System Centre at nearly 10:30 on a Saturday night.
I think I need to start drinking again
Also, my boss is leaving soon, and I need to make sure my reputation's as good as it could be before my next US-based boss rocks up.
