I’ve got mushrooms in my garden

Postby simonpaulthomas on Tue Jun 25, 2019 12:22 am

The ****ers started sprouting a few days ago - I’ve checked online, and they’re all poisonous so I’d like to get rid so my son can go in the garden again. First I tried some Weedol, and that killed them off a bit, but it also killed the surrounding grass... I’ve laid down some natural fungicide made from water, veg oil and Bicarbonate of soda, but any other advice is appreciated.

Mushrooms and toadstools are the flowering or fruiting part of the fungi. Fungi lives under ground and can travel for miles as small strands but when the conditions are right, they send up the toadstools to produce spores.
They are only around a short time and are often triggered by warm, wet weather.

Just hand pick them and throw away and try if possible to improve drainage in the grass by spiking it with a fork or adding sand regularly.

unless it's fairy ring which isn't good...right?

I've got a new lawn and mushrooms have sprouted all over it. I thought it might be fairy ring but not so sure now.

Had some orange coloured ones pop up in our garden over the last 48 hours. I'll try some of the advise on here.

Last year I had a ****ing HUGE mushroom appear next to the compost bin, but underneath the long bits of grass that get missed by the mower. It look a lot like the large flat ones you can often get in pubs etc as part of a mixed grill. I'd loved to have been able to eat it, but unfortunately despite popular misconceptions there are no hard and fast rules for telling poisonous from non-poisonous, and being unable to be sure if it was going to kill me or not I had to chuck it away. :(

You won't be much of a fun guy if you throw them away.

(sorry, couldn't help myself. At least I didn't say 'not mushroom left in the garden if you let them grow wild')

What room has no doors, no walls, no floor and no ceiling? A mushroom.
Did you hear the joke about the fungus? I could tell it to you, but it might need time to grow on you.

Well done Kaya, you've ruined a perfectly decent mushroom thread, I hope you're proud of yourself.
